Coming Home

Madison's least favorite part of the day was getting into her car seat!
But doesn't she look so cute?!
I love bows and dresses and pink!Wide awake on her blanket that I made two days before she was born!
More squirming-but I loved this outfit so I took a few in it!
Jace loving Madi-or "Bebe"
Yep-he remembers his old seat and decided to rock out in it!
We actually caught a full on smile too!
What a win win situation!

We had a fun night with the boys and my mom (thank goodness she came). We're still adjusting but it'll be great once we're all settled in. On a positive note Ky and Jace were asleep in their own beds by 9 and Madi was asleep in the Bassinet by 9:15. Hopefully it will continue this way!

Warning-LOTS OF PICTURES!!!

Here's a glimpse of Madi's first day! Nana holding Madison

Here's your story...

On Sunday Mommy didn't feel so good-she decided to stay home from church with your brothers and just watch the contractions for the day. When Daddy got home from work we called the Dr to see if we should come into the hospital or wait. We decided that since the contractions were only 4 minutes apart that we would go AFTER we went to dinner at Nana's house so that Jace and Kyler could go play with Hilary and Stephanie while we were at the hospital.

After a delicious meal Mommy and Daddy went to the hospital to get everything checked out and to find out if you were ready to join us. After getting hooked up the contractions were still between 2 1/2 and 5 minutes a part...but Mommy was still only dialated to a 3 and 70% effaced. We decided to stay another hour and walk the halls to see if we could increase dialation up. But it didn't work. Because the contractions were now 3-4 minutes a part consistantly Dr Fowers decided to come to the hospital and break Mommy's water to get the ball rolling.

It was 10:30 when Dr Fower's broke Mommy's water. The contractions got more intense and by 11:30 Mommy was dialated to a 4 and 80% effaced. You were on our way! Daddy needed to sleep because he had to go to work the next morning at 8. So Mommy hung out in bed, bounced and rolled on a birthing ball to get through the contractions as they got closer and closer and harder and harder.

At 1:30 Mommy wasn't feeling so hot! She decided to have the nurse see where we were at. Dialated to a 6 and 90% effaced-we were on the down hill slope of things! She immediatly called Carol and Nana to come to the hospital. After the continuing urge to pee and throwing up things were getting bad. Mommy got really hot and went back into the bathroom and the contractions wouldn't stop so she could even stand up. Daddy was getting worried and checked on Mommy-you were almost here!

The nurses were running everywhere. They had to help mommy make it back into bed and FAST! Dr Fower's was in the on call room on the floor. No one was ready for you yet! Before the Dr made it you were crowning and then your whole body was out. The Dr didn't even get there in time-the nurse delivered-or caught you and you came into this world.

Daddy and Nana nearly missed it! Mommy didn't have time to have any medicine before you came so she was very tired after! It's very hard work to deliver a baby! But here you were. 7 pounds, 19 inches and beautiful! Daddy just held you and stared at you, so in love you. We all were amazed by your long fingers and skinny feet! Carol couldn't believe how quickly you got here! Nana was in heaven when she held you precious baby.

We stayed in Labor in Delivery for one hour before they moved us to our room in Mother Baby. Once we got to our new room they checked you over again to make sure everything was okay. You had low blood sugar so we were told that they would be watching it to make sure it stayed above a certain point. Carol headed home to relieve Stephanie so she could get some sleep. Next came your bath...which you DIDN'T like at all! Daddy got to wash your hair. The nurse took you to the nursery to check blood sugar and to take your picture. When they brought you back you were finally ready to eat!

At about 6 AM Nana and Daddy headed home so we could try and get some sleep. You slept for a very long time, too bad the nurses kept interrupting our slumber!! The day progressed with you sleeping well but not eating as often as needed so your blood sugar stayed low and they had to keep pricking your heal-so sad! We had several visitors come and visit us. Carol came and brought some beautiful flowers (along with her lovely personality), Grandma Cheryl came with new clothes for you, Aunt Hilary brought you new clothes and shoes, Papa, Nana, Aunt Stephanie, Cortney, and Brook also came.

Your brothers came to meet you too. They were so excited to finally have you here! Kyler told us how your skin was red but how pretty you were. Jace REALLY wanted to give you high 5's and kisses. They both wanted to smother you with love! Jace isn't so sure about sharing Mommy but he was already getting better before they went home. Carol took the boys to her house to sleep for the night so that Daddy could get some much needed sleep (Too bad it didn't last, her basement flooded and both ended up having a sleepover with Nana).

Everyone couldn't believe how much hair you have. You are so tiny and perfect. You have long fingers and toes-I'd say piano player in the making! I was super excited to see you have dimples-I always wanted them and you and Jace both got some-they are so cute!

Nana and Papa were the last to head home. I think Nana could have sat and held you all night-besides the fact that she was running on 2 hours of sleep too! They kissed you and loved you good-bye and headed home. We'd made it through your first day of life. Needless to say we both crashed and slept for as long as we could! Mommy was so greatful that you let her sleep. It was a magical day!

I love you so much. It's amazing how much you can love someone that you have just met. I feel so blessed to be your Mommy and to have you a part of our family. I know having three kids will be hard but all I have to do is look at your sweet face to know it'll be worth every minute! I love being a mom and am so excited to see you grow.

37 Week Update

Went to the Dr yesterday thinking probably won't have had any progress because with the boys I didn't progress until I was actually in labor. Well I was wrong! I am 70% effaced and diated to a 3. That's big for me! Yeah!!! The Dr thinks that we'll be headed to the hospital in the next few days-which I'm a little nervous about but also really excited to have this pregnancy over with! Although I have realized I haven't gotten the baby's blanket done or even started yet so that's my job tonight!
On a funny note-Ky told me Madi is coming to earth tomorrow-which would actually be today! He's funny!

So after looking at crib sets all over the place-I have found the perfect one! I'm trying to get in touch with the company to see if we can get it through the store so it would be a bit cheaper but we'll see! Melissa found it on Costco for around $330 for the whole set! So we'll see what happens!

Cache County Fair 2010

If you're from around here you know what a BIG deal the county fair is! Everyone goes. The kids go for the rides. The adults go for the booths. And EVERYONE goes for the delicious food! After living here for three years I think Kevin has this one down. He came two nights with us-the prospect of dinner may have lured him there!!!
We live by the fairgrounds so Ky knew something was up when he saw all the horses and rides being set up! Well as I'm 9 months pregnant and Jace is too little to go on any of the rides I recruited Stephanie to help us out. They went on two rides on Thursday and then on Saturday my dad got them unlimited ride pass bracelets and they went nuts! Thank you thank you thank you Papa! I'm pretty sure that Ky could have been happy riding the train, the slide, and going through the Harry Potter obsticle course the whole time!
Jace felt left out...but don't worry we fed him A LOT OF JUNK to keep him happy!
Ky's least favorite adventure of the day!
Who needs rides when you have SUPER AUNT STEPHANIE!
You remember Disneyland? Of course he HAD to ride this one!
The mini-coaster...he loved it!
Kyler and Steph's FAVORITE RIDE!!!
Dizzy Dragons...kind of hard to get a good picture-BUT Steph is for sure Smiling!

Friends to the end!

Several weeks ago we found out that Shelly, Rich, Bracki, and Kenzie had the opportunity to move to Missouri for Rich's work. We all had our tears saying good-bye, but we were able to have one last playdate with the kids. My mom let us come and play at her house and eat dinner. Then we took the kids to Toy Story 3-Thanks to Kevin...wouldn't have been possible without his help! Pretty sure Kenzie was the only one to stay in her own seat during the movie!
We have been privilidged enough to get to know this family for over 2 years. They have been an amazing strength to all of us. I feel especially blessed to have been able to have Shelly in my life. She has been a constant support to me since day one. She is an example of who I want to be. She thinks of EVERYONE before she thinks of herself. We've been pregnant together this summer and spring and I'm so sad that we won't be able to see the new babies immediatly! It's a good thing for Facebook and Blogger!
Missouri I've been informed is 24 hours away if we drive...but I know that we'll make the trek out there eventually! I know...I didn't even get one picture with all of them looking at me!
Have I mentioned Jace loves to climb things?!
Bracki cheesing it and drinking chocolate milk!
Our little Princess Kenzie-I sincerely hope that this baby is girly and dramatic like her!
Kyler being a goof-but a good lookin' one at that!

35 Week Update

I looked online to see if I could find out what a 35 week old baby really looks like.
Here it is...if our baby were born this week she'd look kinda like this!
We can't wait for her to come out and join us!
Ky yelled at my tummy yesterday "Madi it's time to come out and play wif me" So So Cute!
Jace I think knows something is going on-he constantly wants to lay his head on my belly and just talk.
Dr Fowers said that everything looks good. She's head down. I'm 50% effaced, and dialated to a 1 1/2. It's a good start. He would like for her not to come for another week or so-but I've been having contractions like crazy the last couple of days, so we'll see what happens!
Keep us in your prayers as we get ready for the big day!
We love you all and hopefully will be able to introduce you to our new addition soon!

Our Forever Family

As many of you know, Kevin and I have been working on being able to be sealed. Last friday we were able to drive up to Idaho Falls and have my Great Uncle Mick seal us together for time and ALL Eternity. What a wonderful experience!
As we sat in the Celestial Room we were able to just think and pray.
I'm so greatful that we were able to have this done.
I could feel my two of my grandma's there-which was a really wonderful thing!
I'm so glad that they were able to be a part of our special day.
As we kneeled at the alter with the boys hands on ours it was amazing to feel the spirit so strongly. I'm so greatful that we were able to do this. I feel so close to my Savior and so blessed to have the gospel in my life. We had several family members that came all the way up and I am so glad they were able to share in this experience with us! Lance, Betty Ann, Barbara, Boyd, Cheryl, Jeanne, Uncle Mick, Aunt Delaine, Mom, Dad, Cortney, Krisel and Mike were some of the people that came. My dad's family came but didn't stay for pictures. Boyd and Barbara drove all the way down from Washington State so they could be there!
Uncle Mick and Aunt DeLaine with our Forever Family!
When Kevin and I got married I wanted this great man to do the ceremony but he was unable to preform wedding outside of the temple. I was so exstatic that he was able to preform the sealing for us. It was wonderful to literally be surrounded by our family. He did a wonderful job and I will treasure this opportunity for the rest of my life! The Schaaf Family-Together Forever
Sealed August 6th, 2010

CELEBRATE!!!!

After we went throught the temple to be sealed-my Dad treated us to lunch across from the Idaho Falls. I feel so blessed to have so many people care for me and my family!Uncle Mick and Aunt DeLaine
Uncle Mick is who performed the sealing-and the reason we drove all the way up to Idaho Falls!
Uncle Boyd, Aunt Barbara, and Mom
After taking a short nap, Jace was a happy camper...and a hungry one!
He ate more than half of Ky's food!
After an early morning and long trip and the temple Ky crashed and slept nearly the whole way back to the cabin!

Reunion 2010

This weekend we had our first Family Reunion in a LONG TIME!!!
Unfortunatly I didn't get a whole lot of pictures until most everyone went home!
So here's how some of it went! With Jace walking...he had adventures like crazy...like climbing on the lazy susan and taking a spin!
Rick and my Dad spent a lot of their time playing chess...Rick won the "Championship"
Hilary made sugar cookies and this is what's left after Ky ate his...and drew on the table with the frosting!
Jace FINALLY smiling in a picture enjoying a cookie!
Oh and trying to pick up on the game of chess from Papa and Uncle Rick!
